Beginning on July 1, 2023, rent hikes are only allowed to occur once per year as a result of new laws established by the government. Ms. Wade and Antonia Mercorella, chief executive officer of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ), have both expressed displeasure with the retroactive nature of the new legislation.
