The suburb almost entirely consists of separate houses (81.2%), 13.7% are flats/apartments and 4.8% are semi-detached, row or terrace houses. Transport

Mitchelton holds a variety of ways to help its residents reach their destination. They have proper bikeways built which has access to Kedron Brook Bikeway which leads 20km away to the coast. For train travel, Oxford Park Railway Station and Mitchelton Railway Station both provide regular quick access to Queensland’s Rail City network. For bus travel, Brisbane Transport buses go all the way between other districts like Chermside, Toowong and Ferny Grove. Roads are well maintained and properly planned. Samford Road which is Mitchelton’s main artery road connects to the city as well as Osborne Road which is the main corridor to travel towards the Northern Suburbs.

The suburb offers its residents a quality education. Schools include: Mitchelton State Primary School, Mitchelton State School, Mt Maria College, Mitchelton Special School.

Amenities

Mitchelton enjoys the best of both worlds. It isn’t too far away nor to close to the CBD. This allows the place to have the perfect amount of ambience and very little traffic. With most of the district very well developed there are great choices for cafes and restaurants from Italian cuisine to Thai. A great amount of leisure can be spent while shopping at the Brookside Shopping Centre. A vast amount of parks can be found at every turn. In the middle of the suburb you’ll find Fenwick Park and Lockrose St Playground, perfect for children. To the North-East side, just bordering the district is Teralba Park which is a humongous park that is terrific to spend time with the family. Mitchelton also has a public Library.
