Locate Property is a leading authority for Ascot property management.

Ascot is located approximately 6.5km north-east of the Brisbane CBD. It is best known for its large Queenslander homes, the picturesque poinciana tree lined shopping area of Racecourse Road and for the Eagle Farm and Doomben racecourses popular for racing carnivals. Bartleys Hill is in the south-west of the suburb and is 7m above sea level.

Ascot demographics

As at the 2021 Census, Ascot had a population of 6,531 people of whom 2% were female and 48% were male. The median age of the Ascot population was 39 years, higher than the national median of 38. 69.2% of people were born in Australia, compared to the national average of 66.7%. The next most common countries of birth were England 4.2%, New Zealand 3.9% and India 2.3%.

Ascot transport

Ascot is well serviced by the public bus network as well as trains via Ascot railway station. CityCat ferry terminals are also located nearby at Northshore Hamilton and Brett’s Wharf.

Ascot education

Located within the suburb are Ascot State School, a government primary school for boys and girls, and St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, a private primary and secondary school for girls. There are no government secondary schools in Ascot. The nearest government secondary schools are Aviation High in neighbouring Hendra to the north and Kedron State High School in Kedron to the north-west.

Ascot amenities

Ascot is famous for its main street, Racecourse Road. It is a 900m long road that is lined with shopping, dining and entertainment outlets. Also located in the suburb is Racecourse Village, which is home to a number of retailers as well as a Woolworths supermarket. There is also an IGA grocer within Ascot.

Sutherland Avenue in Ascot is considered one of the best streets in Brisbane. It’s known for its heritage homes, large blocks of land, and tree-lined streets. In November 2024, a home on Sutherland Avenue sold for a record-breaking $23 million. Other top rated streets in Ascot include Morgan Street, a wealthy neighborhood with a median monthly household income of $17,230, and Upper Lancaster Road which is popular for its apartment living.
