Highgate Hill Suburb Profile
4101 QLD
Highgate Hill Suburb Overview
Highgate Hill is a riverside inner-southern suburb of the City of Brisbane. Highgate Hill is a great location, just 2 kilometres south of the lively Brisbane CBD and situated on the beautiful Brisbane River. This neighbourhood offers the perfect combination of convenience and natural beauty, thanks to its prime location just about 1 kilometre east of the charming Hill End. The suburb has hilly land, with the highest point being Highgate Hill, which is 64 metres above sea level. Together with the West End and South Brisbane, it occupies a peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Brisbane River. Dornoch Terrace sits on a central ridge. The land slopes down sharply towards the river in the south and towards low-lying land in the adjacent suburbs to the north. To the east, further hilly land extends past Gladstone Road. Highgate Hill is also a high-density residential suburb with many apartment buildings, some more than 10 stories. The apartment blocks on Dornoch Terrace are located along the main road. This trend began in 1960 with the Torbreck building. Proximity to and views of the Brisbane central business district have drawn residents to the area.
