Known for a multicultural population, the suburb is just 12km from the heart of Brisbane (Central Business District). Prior to being established as a suburb in 1967, it was part of Sunnybank. MacGregor shares a border with Sunnybank, Robertson, Upper Mount Gravatt, and Eight Mile Plains. The suburb is spread across an area of 2.7 square kilometer.
