Morningside is located 5km east of the Brisbane CBD and borders Cannon Hill, Norman Park, Seven Hills, Balmoral and Hawthorne. It's a popular residential area with good amenities and a strong community feel. There are many older-style weatherboard and chamferboard homes in this area as well as modern units and townhouses.

As at the 2021 Census, Morningside had a population of 11,755 people. The median age of the population was 32 years. 71.3% of people living in Morningside were born in Australia.

Morningside is approximately 15 minutes drive from the Brisbane CBD. The main road of the suburb is Wynnum Road and Morningside railway station links the suburb to the Cleveland railway line. Buses also service the area.

Morningside education

Morningside State School is a public primary school for girls and boys located on Pashen Street. There is no secondary school in the suburb. The nearest secondary school is Balmoral State High School in the neighbouring suburb of Balmoral.

Morningside amenities

Morningside has two shopping centers, Colmslie Plaza is located on the opposite side of the Junction Road and Morningside Central on the corner of Junction Road and Wynnum Road. The Colmslie Hotel is situated next to Colmslie Plaza.

Morningside is currently ranked 165th out of all of the Brisbane suburbs. Blackwood Avenue has also been ranked as the best street in Morningside for livability.

Best things to do in Morningside

Morningside is coming of age. Perfectly positioned between Camp Hill, Bulimba and half way to the Bay area from the city, Morningside has plenty of great things to do, such as a Sunday visit to the Local Bavay Distillery or the local cheesemonger at Le Fromage Yard. If you are looking for something to take the kids to, try 1UP Arcade, located at 230 Lytton Road, on the ground level.

For the hands-down best seafood warehouse in Brisbane, give The Fish Factory a visit. You can also dine in and try an array of seafood and takeaway from their in-house restaurant.

Other must-visit locations in Morningside include the Colmslie Reserve off-leash dog park and the Revel Riverside Brewery, another must-see destination sure to rival anything of its kind anywhere in Australia.
