Sinnamon Park Suburb Profile
4073 QLD
Sinnamon Park Suburb Overview
Sinnamon Park is 14 kilometres by road south-west of the Brisbane CBD. The suburb is bound to the north by the median of the Brisbane River. The Jindalee Creek riparian zone binds it partially on the east, while the Western Motorway predominantly surrounds it on the west. The land use is residential. A portion of Sinnamon Park, formerly part of the Wolston Estate, consisting of 54 farms on an area of 3,000 acres, was offered for auction at Centennial Hall, Brisbane, on October 16, 1901. Wolston Estate was the property of M. B. Goggs, whose father got the land forty years ago in the 1860s and after whom Goggs Road is named. Sinnamon Park was created as a suburb on May 13th, 1989. Sinnamon Park is named after the pioneering Sinnamon family, which included James and Margaret Sinnamon. Along with the river flats east of the Centenary Motorway, the area where Sinnamon Village's retirement community now stands was once their family farm.
